Which kids t-shirt should you choose?
Everything in this range is AS Colour, and each style comes as a Kids version (sizes 2 to 6) and a Youth version (the Youth Tee and Youth Long Sleeve Tee run from size 8 to 16). What separates them is fabric weight, measured in gsm (grams per square metre, so higher means thicker), and cut.
| Style | Fabric and fit listed | Colours listed |
| Kids and Youth Tee | 180 gsm, 28-singles combed cotton, regular fit, preshrunk | Many, including White, Navy, Red, Bright Royal and Black |
| Kids and Youth Classic Tee | 220 gsm, 22-singles combed cotton, relaxed fit (Kids) | Many, including Black, Navy, Red, Bright Royal and White |
| Kids and Youth Heavy Faded Tee | 240 gsm, 16-singles carded cotton, garment dyed, boxy with drop shoulders (Kids) | Faded Black, Faded Bone, Faded Grey (Kids) |
| Kids and Youth Long Sleeve Tee | 180 gsm, 28-singles combed cotton, regular fit | White, Grey Marle, Black |
| Kids and Youth Barnard Tank | 150 gsm, 34-singles combed cotton, sleeveless, raw armhole edges (Kids) | White, Navy, Grey Marle, Black (Kids) |
For a school or club order where every child gets the same shirt, we'd start with the Tee. At 180 gsm it's light enough for a hot playground, it takes a print cleanly, and it has the widest colour choice, so matching a school or team colour is realistic. The Classic Tee is the step up when you want a shirt that feels sturdier and holds its shape through a lot of washing, and the Heavy Faded Tee is a fashion cut for camps and merchandise rather than uniform. Add the Long Sleeve Tee for cooler terms, or the Barnard Tank for summer events and sport.
The Kids and Youth sizing split matters for mixed-age groups, so send a size breakdown with your enquiry instead of ordering one size range and hoping.
How can you brand kids t-shirts?
These are cotton, so the methods that work are the ones for cotton. Sublimation is out, because it needs polyester and light colours.
- Screen printing is the one we'd pick for most orders. A one or two colour logo bonds well to a cotton tee and the cost per shirt drops as the run grows.
- DTF transfers suit a full-colour mascot, a photo or a small run, because there's no separate setup for each colour, though the feel and wash life differ from screen print.
- Embroidery gives a stitched finish, which works for a small crest on the chest of a Classic Tee, but on a thin 180 gsm tee we'd usually print instead.
Product pages offer one, two or three decoration positions, so a chest logo with a team name or year across the back is easy to arrange. Your free proof shows the method, size and position, and nothing is made until you approve it.
Ordering kids t-shirts
There's no minimum, so a playgroup can order twelve tees and a school can order three hundred. You can mix styles, colours, Kids and Youth sizes in one order and all of it counts toward quantity pricing, which many of these products show on the product page. Your quote confirms the branded price, and once you approve the proof we decorate in house.
Who buys kids t-shirts?
- Schools order tees for sport houses, carnival days and year groups, and a house colour on a child's chest is seen across the whole carnival.
- Junior clubs dress a squad in one design, so coaches and parents spot the team from the sideline, and the same artwork can be reordered each season.
- Charities and fundraisers print event or fun-run tees that families wear well after the day, so the cause keeps being seen.
If your design includes a mascot, crest or club logo, you need to own it or have permission to use it. Multi-site organisations that reorder every year can ask about our online stores and uniform programs through the enquiry form.
What goes with kids t-shirts?
Most buyers add a AS Colour cap or hat and, for cooler terms, kids sweatshirts or kids pants and shorts in the same colours. The wider AS Colour Kids range sits together, and parents or staff who want to match can look at AS Colour men's t-shirts or ladies' t-shirts. For camp or new-student packs, our kitting service bundles items together.
