Which kids sweatshirt or hoodie should you choose?
The range splits into crews, pullover hoods and zip hoods, and most are made in both Kids (sizes 2 to 6) and Youth (from size 8). The AS Colour styles come in two fabric weights, a 290 gsm Supply fleece and a heavier 320 gsm Relax fleece (gsm is grams per square metre, so higher means a thicker fabric). We also stock our own Kids and Youth Crew Sweatshirt and Traction Zip, which aren't AS Colour products.

For a school or club order where everyone gets the same thing, we'd start with the Supply Hood: it has the widest colour choice, so you can match a school colour, and the fleece is a mid weight that a child can wear from a cool morning through to the afternoon. If you want a heavier layer for winter sport, move up to the Relax styles. The Supply Crew suits younger children who find a hood fiddly, and it's the better pick where a hood might catch on playground equipment.
Check drawcords against your own policy before you order for the youngest ages. The Kids Relax Zip Hood lists no drawcord and the Traction Zip lists a white one, so the two aren't interchangeable if that matters to your school or centre.
How can you brand kids sweatshirts and hoodies?
All of these are cotton-rich fleece, so the methods that work are the ones for cotton. Sublimation is out, because it needs polyester and light colours.
- Screen printing is the one we'd pick for most orders: a one or two colour crest or wordmark on the chest bonds well to fleece, and the price per garment falls as the run grows.
- DTF transfers handle a full-colour mascot or a small run without a colour setup for each shade, though the feel and wash life differ from screen print.
- Embroidery gives a stitched look that reads as uniform, which suits a small crest on the chest of a zip hood, but fine detail and tiny lettering get simplified.
Each product page offers one, two or three decoration positions, so a chest logo with a name or year on the back is easy to arrange. The artwork team confirms the method and logo size on your free proof, and nothing is made until you approve it.
Ordering kids sweatshirts
There's no minimum, so a kindergarten can order twelve hoodies as readily as a school can order three hundred. You can mix Kids and Youth sizes, styles and colours in one order and the whole order counts toward quantity pricing, which many of these products show on the product page. Your quote confirms the branded price, and after you approve the proof we decorate in house. Send a size breakdown with your enquiry so nothing is guessed.
Who buys kids sweatshirts?
- Schools order hoodies for winter uniforms, sport houses and graduating years. The logo is seen every day through a cold term.
- Junior sporting clubs dress a whole squad in one design, so coaches and parents can spot the team on a cold sideline, and the same artwork can be reordered each season.
- Camps, holiday programs and childcare centres hand one to each child, which makes headcounts simpler on an excursion.
Multi-site organisations that reorder every year can ask about our online stores and uniform programs through the enquiry form. If your design includes a mascot, crest or club logo, you need to own it or have permission to use it.
What goes with kids sweatshirts?
Most buyers pair them with AS Colour kids t-shirts and kids track pants and shorts to finish the set, and add an AS Colour cap or hat for outdoor days. Teachers and parents who want to match can look at our adult hoodies and sweatshirts. For new-student or camp packs, our kitting service bundles items together.
