Which type of travel bag or luggage should you choose?

Start with how the recipient travels. A frequent flyer wants a cabin-size case or a pack that fits overhead, a weekend traveller is fine with a duffle, and a conference delegate mostly needs something light that folds into a suitcase. The grid mixes name brands such as Samsonite and Bellroy with unbranded styles, and the table shows how the main types compare.

If you want one case, pick the soft-sided spinner. It holds more, it's lighter than a hard shell, and the logo sits on a flat fabric panel. For a bigger range of wheeled bags, see our trolley bags and suitcases. Gym and weekend bags with no wheels are in duffle bags, and people who carry a laptop as well will usually want one of our branded backpacks.

How do you brand luggage?

Fabric luggage takes a logo well. On backpacks and soft-sided cases we usually recommend embroidery, because the stitching lasts as long as the bag and reads as a corporate item, not a giveaway. Screen printing suits flat polyester duffles in a one or two colour logo, and you can read more on our screen printing page. If your logo has gradients or a lot of colours, DTF transfers keep the detail without a setup for each colour.

Hard shells are different. The surface is moulded, so a needle can't go through it, and which flat decoration works for the shell you've picked is something the artwork team will show you on the proof. Many buyers get round this by branding the suitcase cover, which we can sublimate in full colour, or by adding luggage tags and a travel wallet to the gift. Product pages offer one, two or three decoration positions, so a logo on the front and a small one on the handle is a common plan.

Ordering travel bags and luggage

There's no minimum, so you can brand ten cases for a leadership trip or two hundred for a sales conference. Stocked bags are decorated in house at Annandale and some orders can be ready the same day, while custom made luggage is bulky and usually travels by sea, taking up to about six weeks. You'll get a free digital proof first and nothing is made until you approve it. Freight on suitcases is quoted separately, and the quote confirms the branded price.

Who buys branded luggage, and why does it work?

  • Staff incentives and sales trips. A case or a good travel pack is used on every trip for years, so your logo goes through every airport and hotel lobby with the person who earned it.
  • Client gifts. A recognisable name-brand pack is kept and used, which is why a gift like this reflects on your business long after a pen would have been lost.
  • Conferences and onboarding. A foldaway duffle is light enough to hand out in volume, and it can sit alongside other items in a welcome pack from our kitting service. Our conference bags are a better fit for delegate satchels.

If the recipient works on the road, our laptop bags sit well with a carry-on. For a smaller gift, look at branded wallets.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best way to brand a travel backpack or duffle bag? chevron-down

Embroidery is the usual choice for backpacks and soft-sided luggage because the stitching lasts as long as the bag. For a flat polyester duffle with a simple one or two colour logo, screen print costs less at volume. For a full-colour logo, DTF or heat transfer keeps the detail. Which one we use is settled with you on the free proof.

Can you put a logo on a hard-shell suitcase? chevron-down

Yes, but not with embroidery, because the shell is moulded and can't be stitched. The artwork team picks a flat decoration that suits the shell you choose and shows how it will look on the proof. If the shell is a poor surface for your logo, branding a suitcase cover or luggage tag gives you a more reliable result.

Can a suitcase cover be printed in full colour? chevron-down

Yes. The Suitcase Cover is spandex and polyester, and its product page lists sublimation, which dyes the design into the fabric so it can't peel or crack like a surface print. It comes in four sizes covering 19 to 32 inch luggage, so you can brand a cover to suit each case size you're giving away.

Will a printed or embroidered logo survive baggage handling? chevron-down

Embroidery copes best, since the stitches sit in the fabric and don't scuff on conveyor belts. Surface prints on nylon and polyester can wear where the bag rubs, so we recommend placing them on a panel that isn't dragged or stacked. Say how the bags will be used and the artwork team will suggest a position on the proof.

What artwork file do I need to brand luggage? chevron-down

A vector file such as AI, EPS, SVG or vector PDF is best, because embroidery digitising and screen print both need clean lines. For full-colour DTF or digital print, a PNG or JPG at 300 dpi at actual print size works. If your logo comes from a website, we can redraw it, and a redraw fee may apply, confirmed per job.

What is the minimum order for promotional luggage? chevron-down

There's no minimum order for travel bags and luggage, stocked or made to order. Each order has a one-off logo setup, so the price per bag drops noticeably from around 10 units. Many suppliers ask for 25 or more on bags, so a small team can order a handful of cases here. Your quote confirms the price for your quantity.

How long does branded luggage take to arrive? chevron-down

Stocked bags are decorated in house and some orders can be ready the same day, with timing confirmed in your quote. Custom made luggage is bulky and usually goes by sea, up to about six weeks, which gives the best unit price. Approving the pre-production sample from photos and video instead of in hand can save about a week.

Can I check a suitcase before I order a batch? chevron-down

Yes. We can supply an undecorated sample, with the cost confirmed in your quote and credited back if the order goes ahead. On a suitcase, check the zip pulls, the wheels turning on a hard floor, the handle locking at each height and the weight when empty. You can also handle cases at our Annandale showroom by arrangement.

Can I mix colours or styles in one luggage order? chevron-down

Yes. Colours of the same case can be mixed, for example navy and black on a Samsonite B-Lite 4, and the whole order counts towards volume pricing. Different sizes, styles and decoration positions can also go in one order. Light colours share one logo version and dark colours another, so your proof shows both.

How are suitcases and travel bags delivered? chevron-down

We deliver Australia-wide, including regional and remote areas, and freight is quoted upfront because suitcases are bulky. After dispatch, metro deliveries usually take 1 to 3 business days and regional 3 to 7. If you're ordering luggage along with other items, putting them in one order saves on delivery. You can also arrange your own freight or pick up.

Which travel bag should I choose for a client gift or staff reward? chevron-down

For a client gift, we'd pick a name-brand travel pack or a spinner case, because recipients keep and use them for years. For a staff reward on a budget, a foldaway duffle is the sensible choice. For delegates at a conference, a lighter duffle or backpack is easier to hand out than a suitcase.
