Which type of promotional wallet should you choose?
The range runs from a three-slot cork card wallet up to a leather bifold with a zipped coin pocket, so the first decision is how much your recipient needs to carry. Most gift buyers land on a leather bifold or a slim card wallet, because both go into a pocket daily and neither looks like a giveaway.
| Type | Materials in the range | Best for |
| Bifold and credit card wallets | Italian leather (Pierre Cardin), split leather, PU leather (Swiss Peak), imitation leather | Client gifts, staff rewards, executive gifts |
| Card cases and slim card wallets | Cork, cactus leather, aluminium RFID card case, silicone | Conferences, events, eco-minded buyers |
| Travel and passport wallets | Leather, bonded leather, RFID passport wallets | Airline, travel and finance clients, staff travelling for work |
| Key wallets and coin purses | Leather and split leather | Real estate, automotive and trades gifts |
| Money clips | Nickel-plated metal, chrome, gun and rose gold finishes | Corporate and golf days, low-cost executive gifts |
| Wrist and phone wallets | Polyester, soft-touch silicone | Fun runs, festivals, high-volume giveaways |
If you want leather only, start with our leather wallets. Buyers after something lighter on the pocket can look at money clips, and frequent flyers will want one of our travel wallets or a passport holder. The Silicone Smart Wallet is the one to look at for a giveaway, as it sticks to the back of a phone with 3M adhesive, and we have more in our phone wallets.
What do leather, split leather, bonded leather and PU mean?
Leather labels matter because the logo looks different on each. Split leather is cut from the lower layers of a hide, bonded leather is made from leather fibre pressed onto a backing, and PU is a polyurethane coating on fabric, so none of them are the same finish as a full leather wallet. A few wallets, including the Pierre Cardin Leather Wallet and the Swiss Peak Anti Skimming Wallet, state RFID or anti-skimming protection on the product page, and you should tell us if that matters so we can point you to the ones that list it.
How are branded wallets decorated?
On leather and PU wallets we recommend debossing for most orders: the logo is pressed into the surface, so it looks understated, there's no ink to rub off, and it suits the executive gifts that most wallet buyers have in mind. Here is how the methods compare.
- Debossing presses a one-tone mark into leather or PU. It has no colour, and simple logos with clean lines read best.
- Laser engraving burns the logo into leather, cork or metal. On the Swiss Peak wallet it comes out as a natural etch, and on the Cork Card Wallet the engraving area is 5 x 5 cm on the front or back.
- Pad print or UV print puts colour onto hard cases and small metal items such as the RFID Card Case, which is listed for laser engraving, pad printing or UV printing.
- Screen printing or a transfer suits fabric items such as the polyester wrist wallet, and full-colour artwork on fabric usually points to a transfer.
Logo size depends on the wallet, because a card case simply has less room than a bifold. We size the logo to the available area, and a vector file is the best artwork to send. Our artwork team shows the method, size and position on the free proof before anything is made.
Ordering branded wallets
There is no minimum order for wallets, so a small team can order a dozen as readily as a conference can order hundreds. Each order carries a one-off setup for the logo, and your quote shows it together with the quantity breaks, so ordering ten or more spreads that cost. You'll approve a free digital proof first, then production starts, and some orders can be ready the same day. Many wallets arrive in an individual gift box, so check the product page for the one you want.
Who buys promotional wallets and what do they get from them?
Wallets work where the recipient is expected to keep the gift. A leather wallet given to a long-standing client is used every day for years, so your logo sits in front of them at every counter and café, which a pen or mug rarely manages. Several sets pair a wallet with a pen, scarf or luggage tag, which saves you assembling a gift yourself.
- Corporate and executive gifts: leather wallets and money clips suit a client thank-you or a milestone award, and our executive gifts pair well with them.
- Staff onboarding and rewards: a card wallet in a welcome pack tells a new starter you've thought about them, and kitting lets us pack it with the rest of the kit.
- Christmas and end of year: wallets are a popular choice for Christmas corporate gifts, and production slots fill from September, so book early.
Wallets sit well beside luggage tags and promotional pens in a gift set.
