What is in the AS Colour kids range?

The names on the grid tell you the size group. "Kids" styles are cut for sizes 2 to 6, and the "Youth" versions start at size 8 (the Youth Supply Crew runs 8 to 12, the Youth Track Shorts 8 to 14), so a club with a mixed-age squad can dress everyone in the same style. Our AS Colour kids t-shirts include classic, heavy faded and long sleeve tees as well as Barnard tanks. The kids sweatshirts and hoodies come as Supply, Relax and zip styles, and the kids track pants and shorts as track and relax track cuts.

Which kids garment should you choose?

Gsm is grams per square metre, so a higher number means a heavier fabric. For most orders we'd start with the Kids Tee, since it comes in a long colour list and takes a print well on a flat cotton surface, and move to a Supply Hood or Crew when the group needs something for cooler mornings on the sideline. If the garment is going home in a school bag, a preshrunk cotton tee is a sensible default because it will still fit after the first few washes.

How do you put a logo on kids clothing?

Three methods cover nearly every order, and the artwork team confirms the final one on your proof.

  • Screen printing is what we'd pick for tees and hoodies in volume, because it's bold, hard-wearing and gets cheaper per garment as the numbers rise. Each colour adds a setup, so it works best with a one or two colour logo.
  • DTF transfers suit full-colour artwork, fine detail and smaller runs, which makes them the usual answer when a school wants a mascot or a scanned class drawing. The feel and wash life differ from screen print, so ask to compare.
  • Embroidery is the better choice for the bucket hat, the caps and the fleece pieces, where a stitched logo looks like a uniform and lasts as long as the garment. Fine detail and tiny text don't stitch well, and the logo needs digitising first.

Product pages offer one, two or three decoration positions, so a chest logo with a back print or a name line is straightforward to add. The logo is sized to the garment, which means a size 2 tee gets a smaller print than a youth hoodie, and you'll see both on the proof.

How does ordering work?

There's no minimum, so a single class or a junior team can order, and you can mix sizes and colours in the one order while the whole lot still counts toward the volume price. You'll get a free digital proof showing the logo size, position and method, nothing is made until you approve it, and the garments are then decorated in house. Some orders can be ready the same day, and your quote confirms the timing for yours.

Who orders branded kids clothing?

  • Schools and junior sports clubs: house tees, carnival hoodies and team shorts get worn every week of the season, so the club name is seen at training, on the sideline and at the shops afterwards.
  • Camps, fun runs and holiday programs: a matching tee makes a group easy to spot in a crowd. For a take-home pack, combine a tee, a bucket hat and a printed tote bag in a kitting order, or look at our kids bags.
  • Family-focused businesses and charities: a kids tee given out at an open day or sold at a fundraiser stays in the wardrobe, and parents see the logo every time it comes out of the wash.

If you run a club network or several sites that reorder every season, ask us about an online store and uniform program so each site can order itself. Add a AS Colour cap or bucket hat to the tee and the whole outfit carries your logo. Please make sure you own, or have permission to use, any mascot or club crest you send us.

Frequently asked questions

Which print method is best for a kids tee? chevron-down

Screen printing is the usual choice for a kids tee in volume, because it is hard-wearing on cotton and cheaper per garment as quantities rise. For a full-colour mascot, a photo or a smaller run, DTF transfers suit better. Tell us the number of colours in your logo and the artwork team will confirm the method on the proof.

How big can the logo be on a size 2 tee? chevron-down

The logo is sized to the garment, so a size 2 tee takes a smaller print than a size 6 or a youth tee, and there is no single fixed maximum. A chest logo that looks right on a youth hoodie can swamp a toddler. The free proof shows the exact size on each garment size before anything is made.

Can you embroider kids hoodies and tees? chevron-down

Embroidery suits the 290 gsm fleece hoodies, the caps and the bucket hat better than the 180 gsm tees. Stitching on a thin tee can pucker, so we would normally print tees and embroider heavier pieces. The logo is digitised into a stitch file first, and small text or fine detail will not stitch cleanly.

What artwork do you need for school or club kids clothing? chevron-down

A vector file such as AI, EPS, SVG or vector PDF is best, with fonts converted to outlines. For full-colour DTF, a high resolution PNG or JPG at 300 dpi at actual print size works, which also covers a good scan of a child's drawing. A logo copied from a website usually needs redrawing, and the artwork team can help.

Will a print on a kids tee last through school washing? chevron-down

Durability depends on the method. Screen print on cotton is built for repeated washing, while DTF and heat transfers have a different feel and wash life, so tell us how the garment will be used. Washing the garment inside out in a cool wash, as the care label advises, helps any printed logo last longer.

What is the minimum order for AS Colour kids clothing? chevron-down

There is no minimum order, so a class or a junior team can order a dozen hoodies. Each order carries a one-off logo setup, which means the price per garment drops noticeably from around 10 units. You can mix kids and youth sizes, styles and colours in one order, and the whole order counts toward quantity pricing.

What sizes do the AS Colour kids and youth ranges come in? chevron-down

Kids styles are sized 2 to 6 and youth styles start at size 8, for example the Youth Supply Crew in 8 to 12 and the Youth Track Shorts in 8 to 14. Size runs vary by style, so check the product page before you plan a squad. The bucket hat and Icon Kids Cap are one size.

Can I see a sample before ordering a class set? chevron-down

Yes. We can send an undecorated sample and the sample cost is confirmed with your quote and credited back if the order goes ahead. On kids clothing, check the fleece weight, the neck opening and how the size 6 and size 8 compare, since that is where a mixed-age group usually gets caught out. If you would rather handle the fabric first, the Annandale showroom is open by arrangement.

How long does a school or club order take? chevron-down

Some stocked, decorated orders can be ready the same day, and the quote confirms the timing for your garments and logo. Allow longer around the start of term and before carnivals, because slots fill. A longer lead time can lower the unit price, and rush production is available on most products at a higher cost.
