How can a logo be put on a bag?
Custom Gear offers embroidery, screen printing, DTF transfers and other methods, and stocked products are decorated in house. Most bag product pages let you choose one, two or three decoration positions.
- Screen printing is our usual choice for calico, jute and non-woven totes and for fabric bags with a logo in one to a few flat colours. It is durable and cheapest per unit at volume, but each colour adds a setup cost and gradients do not suit it.
- DTF (direct to film) transfers suit full-colour logos, fine detail and gradients on fabric bags, in smaller runs.
- Embroidery gives a raised, stitched logo on backpacks and laptop bags. It suits bold shapes with little fine detail, and the logo is digitised into a stitch file first.
- Debossing or laser engraving is used on leather bags and wallets. Neither adds colour, so simple logos work best.
For most backpacks and laptop bags, embroidery is the better pick: it lasts as long as the bag and reads as a corporate item rather than a giveaway.
Send artwork as AI, EPS, SVG or a vector PDF with fonts converted to outlines. A 300 dpi PNG, JPG or TIFF is acceptable for full-colour methods. You approve a free digital proof showing logo size, position, colours and method before production starts, and nothing is produced without your approval. The logo is sized to the decoration area of the bag. Kitting can combine a bag and its contents into one pack.
Minimum order, pricing and lead times for custom bags
There is no minimum order on bags. Each order has a one-off setup for the logo, so the price per bag drops noticeably from around 10 units. Your quote shows quantity breaks, decoration costs and the total, and no decoration or setup charges are added after approval.
Stocked bags are decorated in house, and some orders can be ready the same day. Custom made bags are made offshore: light items usually arrive 1 to 3 weeks after artwork and sample approval by air, while bulky items such as luggage usually go by sea, up to about 6 weeks. A longer lead time lowers the unit price, and rush production costs more and narrows the choice of bag. See shipping information for delivery.

Which print method is best for promotional bags?
For calico, jute and non-woven totes and other fabric bags with a one to few colour logo, screen printing is the usual choice because it is durable and cheapest per unit at volume. Can you put a logo on a leather backpack?
Yes. Leather bags and wallets are decorated by debossing or laser engraving, which press or burn the logo into the surface in one tone, so simple logos work best. The Pierre Cardin Leather Backpack offers one, two or three positions on its page. Your proof shows the position.
How big can the logo be on a bag?
The logo is sized to the decoration area of the bag, and the proof shows the size before production. Where a product page states a print area, we use it: the Laynie Clear Cosmetic Bag allows a screen print of 140 x 80 mm. Most bags offer one, two or three positions, and each extra position adds a cost shown in your quote.
Will a printed or embroidered logo survive daily use?
Embroidery is stitched into the fabric and suits daily carry on backpacks and laptop bags. Screen prints and DTF transfers hold up to normal use on suitable fabrics, but heavy rubbing or frequent washing wears any surface print over time. Tell us how the bag will be used, such as daily commuting or a single event, and the artwork team will recommend a method.
What artwork file do I need for bag branding?
Send a vector file: AI, EPS, SVG or a vector PDF with fonts converted to outlines. A 300 dpi PNG, JPG or TIFF works for full-colour methods. Vector keeps edges sharp whether the logo goes on a small pouch or a large backpack panel. A logo from a website usually needs redrawing, and the artwork team can help.

Can I get a sample of a bag before ordering?
Yes. We make digital mock-ups before you order, and can supply an undecorated physical sample so you can check quality. The sample cost is confirmed with your quote and credited back when the order goes ahead. You can also handle bags at the Annandale showroom by arrangement. For large or custom made orders, a pre-production sample can be made for approval before the full run.
Can I mix bag colours in one order?
Yes. Colours of the same bag can be mixed, and the whole order counts toward volume pricing. Many bags list several colours, such as the Byron Clip & Go pouch in black, brick, grey, lilac, navy and oatmeal. Light colours share one dark version of the logo and dark colours a light one. Sizes and decoration positions can also be combined in one order.
