Which AS Colour jacket suits the job?
The grid holds 18 men's styles, and they fall into four groups that behave differently on the job and under a needle. The table uses the figures on the product pages of the styles we checked.
| Group | Styles | What the product page says |
| Light shells | Coach Jacket, Active Jacket, Section Zip Jacket | Coach is lightweight nylon with a snap dome closure and drawcord hem. Active is a 125 gsm recycled nylon shell that packs into its own pocket. Section Zip is 90 gsm polyester rip-stop with sealed seams. |
| Waterproof | Tech Jacket | 100% recycled polyester, 3 layer, 10k rated waterproof, seam sealed, with waterproof zips. |
| Insulated | Puffer Jacket, Hooded Puffer Jacket, Quilted Jacket, Felt Bomber Jacket | The puffers are recycled polyester with an 80% down, 20% feather fill at 630 fill power, and are water and wind resistant. The Quilted Jacket has recycled polyester wadding. The Felt Bomber is a 290 gsm wool and recycled polyester blend. |
| Cotton workwear | Work Jacket, Service Jacket, Bomber Jacket, Canvas Heavy Jacket, Canvas Hooded Jacket | Work, Service and Bomber are 300 gsm cotton drill, and the first two are padded. The two canvas jackets are 470 gsm cotton duck canvas. |
Gsm is grams per square metre, so 470 gsm canvas is a much stiffer, heavier cloth than 125 gsm nylon. The grid also has chore, college bomber and cord collar styles in the same cotton and canvas family. Colour lists differ from style to style, and many are black only, so check the product page for the one you want.
If you want one jacket for a whole team, we'd start with the Work Jacket or Service Jacket. The cotton drill is tough, the padded lining takes the edge off a cold morning, and both have an opening in the lining so the decorator can reach the chest area. For a lighter layer over a polo at events, the Coach Jacket is the simpler choice. If the jackets are client gifts or a reward for a long-serving team, a puffer reads as a better present than a shell. You can also see men's jackets from other brands if AS Colour doesn't have the style you want.
What is the best way to put a logo on a jacket?
Embroidery is what we'd recommend for most jackets, because stitching sits in the fabric, lasts as long as the garment and looks like a uniform rather than a giveaway. The logo is digitised into a stitch file first, and small text or fine detail doesn't stitch well, so a bold logo gives the best result. The artwork team confirms the final method on your proof, and a few things are worth knowing before you ask.
- The left chest is the usual spot, with a larger logo or team name across the upper back. Each product page offers one, two or three decoration positions.
- Several styles, including the puffers, the Felt Bomber, the Work Jacket and the Canvas Hooded Jacket, are listed with an access opening in the lining, which makes decorating the chest easier.
- Waterproof and slick shells need more thought. A stitched logo leaves needle holes, so on a seam sealed jacket like the Tech Jacket you should ask about a DTF transfer instead, and transfers also tend to sit better than ink on nylon and rip-stop.
- For a large, bold back print on canvas or cotton drill, screen printing is worth a quote, though each colour adds a setup.
- Most jackets are dark, so a dark logo can vanish. Tell us the jacket colour and we'll show a light version of the logo on the proof.
How does ordering work?
There's no minimum order, so a crew of six can order the same jacket as a team of sixty, and you can mix sizes and colours of one style while the whole order counts toward the quantity price. Many jacket pages show quantity pricing, and the quote confirms the branded price for the positions you choose. You'll get a free digital proof, nothing is made until you approve it, and then we decorate the jackets in house.
Who orders branded AS Colour jackets?
- Trades and site crews wear a canvas or cotton drill jacket every shift, so the logo is in front of customers and the public all day. These jackets aren't hi-vis, so tell us what the job involves if you need hi-vis or safety wear, and see our work jackets and vests.
- Staff and new starters get a jacket as part of a winter uniform, usually with a tee and a beanie in a kitting pack. If you run several sites that reorder each year, ask us about an online store and uniform program so each site orders for itself.
- Clubs and event teams use a coach jacket or puffer as the coaching or crew layer, which means the logo appears at every training session and match for the whole season.
What goes well with a branded jacket?
A jacket usually sits on top of other pieces, so we'd look at AS Colour men's t-shirts underneath and a hoodie or sweatshirt as a middle layer. For warmth at the top end, add AS Colour beanies or caps and hats. For a women's team, our ladies' jackets cover the matching set.
